In celebration of the life of Edward W. Ackerman I, born May 24, 1938, in Queens, New York. He passed on March 19, 2017 at East Cooper Hospital in Mt Pleasant, SC with family by his side. He resided for more than 45 years in Ladson, SC with his wife of 39 years Susan N. Chubbuck Ackerman. He leaves us as a decorated Vietnam Veteran, a retired Naval Chief Petty Officer of 20 years, a dock master, a master craftsman, a family man, and a lover of animals.

Ed always strived for excellence in himself and others. At one point in his military career, he was selected as a United States Sky Marshall.   He went on, after retirement, to work as a master carpenter and craftsman around the area. Ed was also a historian and collector. He loved to go to the flea market in Ladson looking for unique items.     

He was the loving son of Edward F. Ackerman I and Catherine Hanley Ackerman of Holbrook, NY. The brother of Rose “Little Rosie” Ackerman Taylor (husband Terry Taylor) of Newton, NJ; The father of John Philip Morrison (wife Pat Morrison) of Fayetteville, Ga, Edward F Ackerman II (significant other Shannon Bowman) of St George, SC, Tracy Lepley Jordan (husband Billy Jordan) of Picayune, MS, and Catherine Ackerman Brand (husband Jerry Brand) of Gastonia, NC; grandfather of Chris Morrison, Michael Morrison, Edward W. Ackerman II, Robert D. Dunn, Braxton W. Giles, Nickolas Brand, Dallas Jordan and Alexandria Jordan; great grandfather to Lily Morrison and Cambria Church; uncle to Kim Fayaud Mann and Gary Fayaud. Also, poppa to his special buddy, Murphy, his old English sheepdog.
