Jane Murray McCollum passed away on May 11, 2018.  She was born on October 26, 1923 to Faith and Chalmers Murray at their home on Edisto Island, South Carolina.  She is preceded in death by her husband Edward McCollum and her son Murray McCollum.  Surviving are her daughter, Faith McCollum, granddaughters Hannah and Emi, daughter-in-law Rita McCollum, beloved nieces and nephew and cousins.

After an idyllic childhood on Edisto and in Georgetown, she served in the WAVEs during World War II where she discovered her love of nursing.  She then attended the College of Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina and served as a pediatric nurse.  After marrying Edward, they settled in Greenville, South Carolina to raise their family.  They retired on Edisto, returning to the home she loved.  Her passions were many:  painting with watercolors, appreciating and enjoying the beauty and history of Edisto, serving in many ways at Trinity Episcopal Church and in the community, and enjoying the company of her many friends and her beloved pets.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 30 at 2:00 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1589 Highway 174, on Edisto Island with a reception to follow at the church.   In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Edisto Island Historic Preservation Society, 8123 Chisolm Plantation Rd., Edisto Island, SC  29438 or Animal Lovers of Edisto K9 Rescue, 8112 Palmetto Rd., Edisto Island, SC  29438.
