Geraldine LaVora (Melton) Smith Oct. 10, 1933-Aug. 2, 2018 Goose Creek, SC Mrs. Geraldine LaVora (Melton) Smith was born on October 10, 1933 and passed away at age 84 on August 2, 2018 at her home in Goose Creek, South Carolina, surrounded by her family. She lived in Vacaville from 1969 to 2014 when she moved to South Carolina to be with one of her daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Smith. Geraldine served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958. She is survived by her sons, Danny Smith and Mark Smith (Lani); daughters, Linda Swanson (Robert) and Christina Stokke; grandchildren, Christopher Smith (Jennifer Featherstone) Mark Smith, Douglas Smith, Michael Swanson, Emily Swanson, Kristen Garcia, Kathryn Cifelli, and Kayla Strickland; great-grandchildren, John Paul, Brittaney, Gracie, Austin, and Alina. Geraldine spent her life as a homemaker. She loved taking care of babies. She raised her three kids plus three of her grandkids with such love and affection. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Friends and family can pay their respects, while both Geraldine and Vernon are interned together, at a graveside service on Friday, August 31 at 2:30 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA, 95620. They will be given full military honors. A celebration of life and dinner will follow at the Hampton Inn in Vacaville on Mason Street at 4:00 on Aug 31. All are invited to attend.
