~~William Hanover “Bill or Big Dad” Jennings, 91, of Summerville and husband of Doris Jennings, entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 1, 2016.
Bill was born on August 2, 1924 in Winona, Minnesota, the son of Martha Belle Jennings and Cyrus Francis Jennings. Mr. Jennings was first married to Louise Jennings who passed away December 4, 1971. He later married his current wife Doris Jennings. Bill graduated from Charleston High School after moving to the area where his father, a Colonel in the U.S. Army served as Commander of the Ordnance Depot. He attended Clemson Military College for two years before the U.S. Army enlisted him in 1946. Bill was honorably discharged in January of 1949 after serving in Okinawa, Japan. Bill retired from Redstone Arsenal Missile Command in 1977 and he and his wife moved to the Charleston area. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, one son, Donn Jennings and his wife Robin of Huntsville, Alabama, three stepchildren, Robbie Sumersett and his wife Nancy, Toni S. Ramon and her husband Louis and Mark Sumersett all of Summerville, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. There will be a private family service for Mr. Jennings at a later date.
