One of the planet’s most beautiful souls has passed on to his next life and will soon be a part of the wind and the sunsets and the rippling Lowcountry waters.
Darrel valiantly fought cancer, then leukemia, with courage, humor and optimistic determination for three years.
Those who love him can take comfort in knowing he has been released from his suffering.
Darrel was predeceased by his parents and four siblings. He is survived by his adoring wife Sara Kate Boggs Bemiller, brother Rodney Bemiller (Charlotte), and a large and loving family of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Darrel and Sara are grateful to Dr. Matthew Beldner and the staff of Lowcountry Hematology and Oncology, Roper St. Francis Hospice, and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care and treatment.
They will always be thankful to Brucie Boggs, Chip Dondrea, and to dear friends and family who have been with them every step of this difficult journey.
Darrel, go play with our pets who've gone before you, hug your mom, dad, brother, sisters and Kathleen & Boone Boggs, and entertain them all once again with your harmonica and dulcimer music.
I will catch up with you one day. Until then, I’ll see you when the Ibises fly over, hear your voice in the tree frogs’ night symphony, and feel your touch in the sweet southern breeze.
A celebration of Darrel’s remarkable life will be announced at a later date. In keeping with his love of animals, Darrel would be honored by contributions to Dorchester Paws Animal Shelter (www.dorchesterpaws.org).
