James Becker

Posted January 24, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of James H. Becker announces his passing on 24 January 2020 in Charleston, SC. He left this world surrounded by many family members, including his five beloved children. He is survived by his wife Jan Becker, mother Kathleen Becker, daughter Elise Becker-Oscar, four sons: James, Patrick, Aaron and Joel Becker, sister Mary Carrow, and eight grandchildren. Born in Texas, he grew up and raised his sons in Ann Arbor, MI, eventually moving to Daytona Beach, FL where he met Jan and they raised their daughter. He also enjoyed living part time in Goose Creek, SC with his daughter Elise and son-in-law JR Oscar. He will be remembered for his passionate love for family and friends, exuberant personality, absolute honesty, quick wit, and adventurous spirit. His love for adventure took him to the air and sea, becoming a private pilot and sailor. He owned and enjoyed flying two airplanes and an ultralight. In later years he loved fixing up and living on his beautiful sailboat, “Cool Change.” He thankfully fulfilled his long held dream when he and Jan went on their big sailing voyage to the Abacos, Bahamas last year. His unexpected passing has left a big hole in many hearts, but his family takes comfort in knowing we will see him again in our Father’s Kingdom. A Celebration of Life brunch will be held in Daytona Beach at the Halifax River Yacht Club on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 12:30.
